Con Edison small business rebates in NYC & Westchester
Con Edison's Small Business & Nonprofit Energy Efficiency and Electrification Program pays incentives toward approved equipment upgrades for stores, restaurants, offices, houses of worship, nonprofits and other smaller commercial customers.
Clean Ridge Energy handles the parts that slow owners down: the walkthrough, the scope, the program paperwork and the installation schedule. You see the estimated incentive and your share of the cost in writing before any work starts.
What's typically included
HVAC & controls
Advanced rooftop unit controls, demand-controlled ventilation, EC motors, variable frequency drives, energy management systems and advanced thermostats.
Refrigeration
Walk-in cooler and freezer upgrades, EC fan motors, evaporator fan and anti-sweat heater controls, and refrigerated display case replacements.
Building envelope
Air sealing, roof and wall insulation and secondary windows — measures that cut both heating and cooling loads.
Electrification
Cold-climate air-source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, where the existing fossil-fuel heating system is decommissioned.
What Con Edison's program rules say
Eligibility is for Con Edison commercial customers in service classes 2, 9 or 51 with an average peak demand under 300 kW over a rolling 12 months. Larger accounts go through Con Edison's Commercial & Industrial program.
Incentives are for replacing existing, working equipment with qualifying efficient equipment — not for repairs or for equipment that has already failed.
In 2026, Small Business lighting incentives are offered only through the Neighborhood Program in the Jamaica / Southeast Queens area.

A measure can't receive incentives from Con Edison and NYSERDA (or another utility) for the same equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Who qualifies for Con Edison's small business rebates?
Con Edison commercial electric customers in service classes 2, 9 or 51 whose average peak demand is under 300 kW over the last 12 months. Most storefronts, restaurants, offices and nonprofits fall in that range. Larger accounts use Con Edison's Commercial & Industrial program instead.
Does the program still pay for LED lighting?
For 2026, Small Business lighting incentives are only available through the Neighborhood Program in the Jamaica / Southeast Queens area. Outside that area, the strongest opportunities are usually HVAC controls, refrigeration and envelope upgrades.
Do I have to pay anything?
Usually, yes — the program pays an incentive toward eligible costs and the owner covers the remaining share. We show you the estimated incentive and your share in a written proposal before anything is installed.
How is the incentive paid?
Incentives are paid through Con Edison's program process after the installed project passes program review. Your written proposal shows how the incentive is applied and exactly what you pay.
How long does a project take?
Most small business projects move from walkthrough to installation in a few weeks, depending on equipment lead times and program review. Con Edison's program sets deadlines for completing installs once a project is approved, and we schedule around them.
